Nikolaevsk is a very isolated Russian village, populated by "old believers", a very conservative branch of the Russian Orthodox Church. The people I spoke with had Russian accents. The major attraction is a Russian Orthodox Church and the mountain scenery along the 15 mile gravel road drive. Nikolaevsk Road heads east from Anchor Point (a small town on the Kenai-Homer highway). This sign was in the village; the road in Anchor Point is not marked.
