Holgate Glacier is one of dozens of glaciers that feed from the Harding Icefield. This panorama, constructed from 5 images, shows the full glacier, almost a mile across and 60 stories high. The glacier calved several times in the 20 minutes we observed it. One spectacular event left the shadow hole near the top of the glacier about one-quarter of the full length from the left (upper right from the large shadow area near the left end). The piece of ice was approximately the size of a ten story building.
